New Comic Book: The Tzuris of Shloyme Royten-Hemd!
I’m delighted to announce the release of my latest comic book project: The Tzuris of Shloyme Royten-Hemd!
This delightful mini-comic is a science-fiction adaptation of the classic comedic Jewish folk tale “It Could Always Be Worse”. It was written by Steven M. Bergson, Canadian librarian and editor of both volumes of The Jewish Comics Anthology, and illustrated & lettered by me.
It’s available right now as an e-book on Amazon!
Steven’s script for The Tzuris of Shloyme Royten-Hemd was packed full of sci-fi references and jokes, and I tried to outdo him with my artwork. For instance, for those who don’t speak Yiddish, Royten-Hemd loosely translates as “red-shirt”, which of course is a nod to the cannon-fodder characters on Star Trek the original series. And I wonder how many readers recognize the outfit I drew Shloyme wearing…? Those examples are just the tip of the iceberg…
Here’s a peek at an interior panel:
The Tzuris of Shloyme Royten-Hemd is a 10-page black-and-white mini-comic. It’s available right now as an e-book on Amazon! I hope you’ll all read it and enjoy!
