Announcing My New Comic Book: The Beast and the Booth!
I am excited to announce my latest comic book project: The Beast and the Booth — an all-ages Sukkot monster story!
This is my third collaboration with author Arnon Shorr, who wrote José and the Pirate Captain Toledano and Brother’s Keeper. (Both books are still available!) For this project, we’ve re-teamed with colorist Aljoša Tomić (who provided beautiful colors to last year’s Brother’s Keeper),
The Beast and the Booth is a thrilling single-issue comic book that weaves together a Jewish tale of faith and family with a supernatural monster story. This all-ages comic offers a fresh, culturally-rich take on the werewolf genre. Set during the holiday of Sukkot, the story follows Sarah, a 14-year-old girl who befriends a boy with a terrifying secret. When the sun sets and the full moon rises, Sarah must confront the beast that lurks beyond the sukkah.
Perfect for fans of classic monster stories and for those seeking a unique twist on Jewish folklore, The Beast and the Booth is a captivating one-shot you won’t want to miss!
The Beast and the Booth is available for pre-order right now, by clicking here. Arnon and I will sign all pre-ordered copies!
We’ll premiere the print version of the book at JewCE — The Jewish Comics Experience in New York City on Sunday, November 10th! Arnon and I premiered Brother’s Keeper at JewCE last year, and the event was a blast; a joyous gathering of Jewish comic book writers and artists. There will be a terrific array of Jewish creatives at the con, along with panels and activities for kids. If you’re in the NY area, I hope you’ll come to the convention and say hi (and buy a copy of The Beast and the Booth)! Click here for tickets and more information!
Arnon and I will also both be participating in a Jewish graphic novel workshop at the 92nd Street Y on Monday, November 11! This program is available for kids ages 9-15, and features incredible artists & writers Emily Bowen Cohen (Two Tribes), Jordan Gorfinkle (Passover Haggadah Graphic Novel; Esther Graphic Novel), Chari Pere, and Mat Tonti!
